I wish that I had gone to http://startlogicsucks.com before I paid for a year in advance for a website with StartLogic/ Trellix. Check mine out at http://genesistodayproducts.net and see why I warn you about using StartLogic/ Trellix.
I think 1and1.com is best ever. Check it out. Good luck. Thanks for warnning
So what exactly are you looking for here? More horror stories on what hosting companies to avoid? Or testimonials from people who are happy with their providers.
I can provide both…
1) GoDaddy… great for domain name registration. Not so hot for web hosting, especially if you’re going to be running dynamic applications like content management systems, community discussion groups, or online stores. See my technical reasons here…

2) HostGator… I guess every popular host has their share of horror stories, and HostGator is no exception. All you have to do is check out their own support forum! Personally though I’ve been quite satisfied with them, both in terms of features, reliability, and responsive technical support. Same reasons as #1 above.
3) Free web hosting… most of these aren’t free… you’re paying for the service by allowing your pages to get mangled with their ads. I did find ONE good free host just a few days ago that is REALLY free… as in, no MONEY and no ADS either, plus the full set of features you expect from a paid service, like multiple MySQL databases, multiple FTP accounts, cPanel, phpMyAdmin, and so on…

I used to host with Ipowerweb and they were good at first so I recommended them to about 8 clients of mine. Boy was that a mistake. I have had nothing but problems with them since and tech support is a joke. You wait on the phone hours only to get no help. If you email you get a non usable response and there so called live chat never answers. I just spend 4 hours yesterday remaking 3 forms i did for a client that were working for for 2 years, then Ipowerweb moves them to a new server and the forms are scrambled. Of course tech support has no answers.
If i were you, I would ask for a refund and move hosts. It will save you time and money in the long run.
I now host with Site5. they are fairly good, but I did have any issue were my website was down for 24 hours because they moved servers and did not set up the secure server certificate correctly.
Hey. It happens. Give Hostgator a try. Monthly payment option. Guarantee satisfactory or money back.
The best webhosting to choose for this thing would be http://www.empservers.com
