what’s better for webhosting: startlogic or hostmonster? Thx!?

I am trying to decide which would be better to host my site. I appreciate any input. Thanks!

HostMonster is the cheaper version of HostGator – both of which suck in my opinion. I’ve heard nothing but horror stories with them and you’re limited as to what you can do with your website. If you just want a simple blog or personal/business site then go with them but be careful about what you say and who you say it to, if you offend even one person (which isn’t uncommon on the Internet) your site will be taken down and no refund will be given.

StartLogic is a little more lenient about what you can do but based on the size of their plans they’re seriously overselling the servers. As an owner of about 6 domains (as well as a webhosting company myself) that are all VERY active and full of images, databases and everything else you could imagine, I’m not using even a 10th of what this company is offering – resource wise. You’ll never go through 15 Terabytes of bandwidth – that’s like getting 15 million hits a day which unless you’re MySpace is borderline impossible. You can’t even set 15 terabytes of bandwidth to a server, fiber optic and t3 providers don’t permit it. AND I doubt you’re only going to be spending about $8 a month on a personal server, if that were the case then everyone would be a “professional webhost”.

1and1.com hosting has a limited offer of $0 payment for the first 3 months and then $4.99 a month for the life of the plan. It’s cheaper, it’s not as resource heavy and with my experience there has been little to no downtime for as long as I’ve known about their company.
